The main means of public transportation in Lviv are trams and trolley-buses. There are also mini-buses called “marshrutki.”
Trams, trolley-buses, and buses
Tickets can be purchased from many news kiosks or from the driver. If you are carrying a piece of luggage larger than a backpack you will need to purchase a separate ticket for it. Once onboard, be sure to validate your ticket(s) by punching them in one of the metal punches mounted on the walls. An inspector may come around to check your ticket.
We recommend using EasyWay online service or mobile app to find the best way of transportation.
Mini-buses (“marshrutky”) follow a set route, but without a fixed timetable. To indicate a desire to board, extend one arm as the mini-bus approaches; simply ask the driver to stop when you would like to get off. The driver will do it at the nearest stop.
Taxi and car service
The most popular app for calling a taxi among locals is Uklon.
Another popular taxi service is Bolt
Uber is also available. It is usually cheaper to order a taxi by app or phone than trying to catch it on the street.
